Micro-Activism matters

Show notes

The seventh episode of the second season focuses on different approaches in climate activism – more specifically in this case on small scale activism in your own neighbourhood. Jumoke Monday from Lagos, Nigeria, shares her story of how she and her friends combine social work and environmental awareness campaigns. Her example shows how important it is to be persistent in climate activism and how much young people can change.

Guests: Jumoke Monday grew up in the SOS-Children's Village in Nigeria. Currently, she lives in the Nigerian capital Lagos. Together with other youth, the 28-year old does social work in her neighbourhood – and gets in touch with many locals. She and her friends seize the opportunity to speak about the effects of the climate crisis in Lagos, using known examples like floodings to raise awareness and understanding among the people. Jumoke also shares one special story of how her activism leads to unexpected turns and friendships.
